Project summary

The Tempus project "Example of excellend in joint (degree) programme development in South-Eastern Europe" is set up in the field of Curricula Reform within a Joint Multi-Country Project. The project coordinated by the International Relations Office of the University of Graz encourages multi-country know-how-transfer in the field of curriculum development of future joint or double or multiple degree programmes and thus makes an impact on governance reform and the interaction of higher education and society in the partner countries.

In order to develop new curricula the project plans to create task forces which will work on various issues essential for the curriculum development. The main topics have been identified as the following:

1. Administrative issues and promotion
2. Quality assurance of joint programmes
3. Student services and student involvement
4. Curriculum development, recognition and degree awarding 5 mobility, work placements, internships .

These task forces will meet in workshops and disseminate their results in regular discussion platforms. On the basis of the workshops’ and discussions’ results a model for the development of joint/double degree programmes will be designed and be used for the establishment of four joint programmes on the Master level, which will be mutually recognized and lead to the awarding of double or joint degrees. These programmes are settled in the following academic fields:

1. Joint Master Programme “Cultural Sociology”
2. Joint Master Programme “History of South-Eastern Europe”
3. Joint Master Programme “Promotion of Modern Language Teaching Methods”
4. Joint Master Programme “Interdisciplinary Master Programme on South-Eastern Europe”

The four programmes will in the future meet in a common summer school, dedicated to academic contents of each study programme on the one hand and to transferable skills independent of the respective academic field on the other hand. A steering committee will provide additional guidance through the project.
